FAQ

Answers to the questions we hear most about our van conversion kits — vehicle fit, ordering, shipping, installation and support. AVC RIG designs and manufactures van conversion kits in Loveland, Colorado, including van flooring kits, wall and ceiling kits, furring kits and aluminum van cabinets for the Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter and Ram ProMaster.

Van Conversion Kits & Vehicle Compatibility

Which vans do your van conversion kits fit?

Our core line is built for the Ford Transit. Drop-in floors are available for Transit, Sprinter and ProMaster. Roof racks are Transit only. On Sprinter, our floors and 144 wall kit are built and tested, and Sprinter parts are designed around GoCode trim. The 170 Sprinter wall kit is still in progress.

Which framing kits do I need for a 148 mid or high roof?

One wall furring kit and one ceiling furring kit; both fit HR and MR. Our recommended set for any build: wall furring kit, ceiling furring kit, wall-to-ceiling supports and the AC furring kit. All parts are aluminum and designed with weight reduction in mind. Wall-to-ceiling supports come with the felt kit.

Will your rooftop AC furring kit fit my AC location?

It fits the roof bays with a 26" or 18" span. We don't make a support for the wider (~41") middle bay. You can add the kit after the AC is installed by unbolting and re-adjusting the compression bars.

What's the R-value of your floor?

Starting at R-5.7. We use 1" polyiso, carved to fit around the floor ribs, topped with 1/2" birch. An insulation-only version is available if you want to add your own full sheet on top. Wall and ceiling insulation is sold separately (about 40–50 ft of Thinsulate SM600 per van).

What floor top coverings do you offer?

Pre-cut 2tec2 or Lonseal, the same pre-cut tops we use in our own shop. Pricing for each is on the product page.

Does the floor include L-track?

Floors include L-track cutouts in standard positions that line up with solid mounting points under the van. Custom L-track layouts are available as a paid customization; contact us for a quote.

Are your aluminum cabinets assembled?

Yes. Cabinets are assembled before powder coat, and doors and hinges are installed before shipping. Choose your color by RAL code. Joining cabinets together takes a 5/32" hex bit and a 7/16" deep socket.

What microwave fits your galley cabinet?

We install the Greystone 0.9 cu ft 900W in our shop.

Do your bed systems work on their own?

No — both our manual and electric beds mount to our utility cabinets. The electric adjustable bed has 25" of travel and supports 700 lb.

Do your kits fit GoCode trim?

Some of our kits fit GoCode trim, but our standard wall kits do not. Each product listing states whether it's designed for GoCode. Our Sprinter kits are designed for GoCode trim.

Do you sell a wiring harness?

No. We customize wire runs for each build. Run your heater power wire (12/2) and your battery charge wire before installing the floor. Our EcoFlow panel cutout is sized for the Gen 2 panel; Gen 1 needs an adapter ring.

Do you sell vans?

No, we're not a dealership. We're happy to point you toward local Ford dealers we work with.

Ordering & Shipping

How do you ship?

Large items like wall kits and cabinets ship freight on Thursdays; smaller parts ship parcel with tracking. We book freight through a logistics partner that compares rates. A cabinet pallet (about 40" × 48" × 48") typically runs $400–$600 in freight.

Can you ship to a PO box?

No. Freight needs a physical street address and a phone number so the carrier can call before delivery.

Can I pick up my order in Loveland?

Yes. Our shop is in Loveland, CO, about 45 minutes north of Boulder. Picking up saves you the freight cost; let us know when you order and we'll credit it.

Is mounting hardware included?

Hardware is not included with the ceiling furring kit. Ford uses metric hardware, so bolts are best sourced locally. Some products do include hardware, such as our Lagun mounts and Espar heater trim.

What options do I choose when I order a wall kit?

You can add pre-patterned holes for Acegoo lights (8 or 10 depending on wheelbase) and holes that line up with the factory 8mm tie-down points.

Do you ship internationally?

Not yet.

Installation & DIY

Is this a complete van build kit?

No. We sell individual components for DIY builders and professional shops. Installing them takes some building experience. We can't provide ongoing build consultation, but we're happy to suggest shops near you.

Where are the install instructions and videos?

Head over to our YouTube channel to see all of our build guides. We also cover installs in our blog posts.

Some videos show parts I didn't get. Why?

A few older videos show parts we've since retired. If you have the wall and ceiling furring kits, you have exactly what we use in our own shop today.

How does the wall framing attach to the van?

With hex bolts and lock washers into Ford's factory 8mm inserts (about 20" and 60" up from the floor). Cargo vans have these inserts; some RV or passenger models may not. The furring kit doesn't overlap them.

How do I mount upper cabinets?

Install rivnuts in the ceiling crossbars and run Unistrut into the ceiling and wall; the cabinets bolt to the Unistrut. Plan this before your walls go in.

What order do the wall panels go in?

Bottom panels first, then work up. We screw the slider door panel in; holes are there if you want to reuse the factory clips.

Are felt kit panels side-specific?

Wheel well panels fit either side, and high roof ceiling panels are symmetrical. On the ceiling, remove the plastic body, screw the felt panel to the factory rib and tuck the headliner back.

Pricing, Builder/B2B & Dealers

Do you offer pricing for build shops?

Yes. Professional shops can join our Builder (B2B) program, which takes 20% off retail. Contact us to set up an account; once approved, B2B pricing shows when you're logged in.

Can you help me find an installer?

Yes — see our builder network page or contact us for a shop near you.

Custom Builds & In-House Services

Do you build full custom vans?

We've shifted our focus to manufacturing kits and parts for DIY builders and professional shops, and we're no longer taking on full custom builds.

I'm buying a used van AVC built. Can you confirm the work?

Yes. We can confirm what we built and set up a consult. We can provide a packing slip, but not original invoices.

Do you do suspension or lift work?

No. We refer suspension work to our partner, Savage Campervan in Denver.
