How Our Ford Transit Floor Insulation Works
This product is the bridge between our full insulated subfloor system and our floor paper pattern templates. We source 1" polyiso acrylic sheet goods and divide the floor into 6 parts (8 for extended vans) to reduce shipping cost.
The polyiso parts are CNC cut just like our floor system to key into the ribs on your Ford Transit. This gives you a flat insulated surface 1/2" above your ribs to then apply your subfloor to.
Installation Steps
- Glue the polyiso down using contact adhesive (we recommend 3M 94).
- Trace and cut your subfloor. We recommend a 1/2" material for your subfloor (Baltic Birch, Advantech, plywood, etc).
- Add your choice of finish material. We recommend vinyl floor for a durable, seamless finish.
- Trim, and your floor is complete!
Why Choose Insulation Only
Our full subfloor system ships with the subfloor already done. This Ford Transit floor insulation kit is for builders who want the precision fit over the ribs but plan to source and cut their own subfloor. Since the polyiso keys into the ribs, you are not guessing at spacing or filling gaps by hand. You get a flat, even base, and the subfloor goes right on top.
Because the ribs are handled for you, tracing the subfloor is simple: lay your sheet on the polyiso, trace, and cut. From there, finish it the way you like. For the top layer, see our pre-cut van flooring kits in 2Tec2 and Lonseal vinyl.
Compatibility
Designed for Ford Transit Cargo vans. Use in Passenger or Crew vans will require modification. The kit is offered for 148 and 148 extended wheelbase vans (6 parts for 148, 8 parts for extended). Learn more about the Ford Transit cargo van from Ford.
